NATCHEZ — The former Bowie’s Tavern has a new proprietor.

“Malan Parks and I are very excited to announce that we are leasing the space that was formerly Bowie’s Tavern!” John Parks posted on social media Thursday afternoon. “Our plan is to do as we have at Magnolia Grill and Pearl Street Pasta — take something great and make it even better.”

Natchez businessman Dan Bland purchased Bowie’s Tavern at Main and Broadway streets Jan. 31 for $1.37 million after the building was caught up in the personal bankruptcy of its then-owner, Louisiana businessman Michael Worley.

Bowie’s Tavern was pledged as collateral on loans Worley had with United Mississippi Bank.

The bank obtained permission from the federal bankruptcy court to foreclose on the property and another, Dunleith Historic Inn, which is also caught up in the bankruptcy.

John Parks declined further comment on Thursday afternoon.

Bland confirmed he had leased the building to Parks.

“Bowie’s Tavern will be leased to John Parks and will be a continuation of his restaurant chain that he has in Natchez and Vidalia and will no longer be known as Bowie’s Tavern,” Bland said. “It will operate under a different name … as 100 Main Street.”

“We appreciate our employees, customers, friends and family for your support of our efforts over the years, and we hope you will support us in our new endeavor!” John Parks wrote in the social media post. “We plan on opening as soon as we possibly can, but licensing and permitting, hiring and training staff, etc. will take some time. We promise to keep you posted! Please like and share if you’re as pumped as we are!”

A logo for a “100 Main: Spirits & Eatery circa 1836” was included in John Parks’ social media posts.
