FOREST, La. — It was an up-and-down Saturday for Delta Charter School’s varsity softball team at the Forest High School Tournament as the Lady Storm went 1-1, defeating Glenmora High School and then losing badly to host Forest High School.

Delta Charter got a solid complete-game performance from Jaden Boydstun on the mound and key hits in the top of the seventh inning for a 9-4 win over the Glenmora Lady Wildcats Saturday morning.

The Lady Storm, the visiting team in this game, scored in each of the first three innings and led Glenmora 4-1 heading into the bottom of the third inning. That’s when the Lady Wildcats began their comeback with a two-run rally to make it a 4-3 game.

Glenmora’s pitching held Delta Charter scoreless over the next three innings and scored one run in the bottom of the sixth to tie the score at 4-4. However, the Lady Storm responded in a big way with a five-run rally in the top of the seventh.

Boydstun gave up two earned runs on five hits with five strikeouts and four walks to earn the win. She was aided by an offense that produced 10 base hits to offset three errors.

Skylar Bolyer went 2-for-4 with two doubles while Boydstun helped her own cause by going 2-for-4. Skylar Hawley had a triple and Alexis Yates had a double.

The second game did not turn out so well for Delta Charter as the Lady Storm was routed by the Forest Lady Bulldogs 11-1 in five innings Saturday afternoon.

Oddly enough, Forest was the ‘visiting’ team in this game. But it did not matter to the Lady Bulldogs, who put this match-up out of reach with 10 runs in the top of the first inning. They added one run in the top of the second to go up 11-0 before the Lady Storm scored its only run of the game in the bottom of the fifth.

Winning pitcher Brooke Ross allowed one run on two hits and went 2-for-3 with a home run. Olivia White hit two home runs and went 3-for-3 while Katie Rios was 2-for-3 with a double. McKenzie Franklin was 2-for-3 and McKenzie Ellerbe was 2-for-4 for Forest.

Tierra Jefferson had a triple and Bolyer had a single for the Lady Storm.

Delta Charter (7-8) plays host to LHSAA District 2-1A foe Cedar Creek School on Tuesday, March 26 with the varsity game at 4:30 p.m., followed by the junior varsity game.
