NATCHEZ — Adams County Christian School Rebels dropped both games of a Friday district double header to the Silliman Institute Wildcats of Clinton, Louisiana.

Silliman won the first game 9-2, and the second game 17-7.

The Rebels did, however, get an early lead in the bottom of the first inning of the first game.

Jack Whitehead drew a walk, Rhet McDonald singled to right field, which sent Whitehead to third, and the next batter up, Cody Brown, laid down a sacrifice bunt that got Whitehead in from third base and ACCS had a 1-0 lead.

Justin Tunstel got the pitching start for the Wildcats but after the Rebels’ first-inning success they would only get one more run home and would only manage to get one more hit off of Tunstil, who went five innings before being relieved by Hastings Dawson.

In the Silliman top of the second inning, the Wildcats sent 10 batters to the plate, and they were able to score five runs, helped by a three-run home run by Justin Pace.

The Rebels could not get any run production going and neither could the Wildcats until the fifth inning.

Then, the Wildcats produced three hits in a row, a triple by Ben Lejuene, a single by Jonathan Elbourne and a double by pitcher Tunstil.

With that effort the Wildcats had increased their lead to 9-1.

The Rebels got one run across in their sixth inning on four walks. Hastings now pitching for Silliman got two strikeouts and a pop fly to end the game 9-2.

“As long as we can continue to play selfless baseball we can have a good year,” Silliman coach Roy Corcoran said.

The winning pitcher for game one was Justin Tunstil.

Coming into the game in the second inning to pitch for ACCS was Rhet McDonald who gets the loss.

Game 2

In game two of Friday’s district double-header between Silliman and ACCS the Rebels district foe proved tough again, and The Wildcats won game two 17-7 in six innings.

The Rebels were able to get work from three pitchers on the night.

Cody Brown got the call to start, while Tripp Cotten came into the game in relief and Conner Aplin finished it out for the Rebels.

The Wildcats scored throughout the game, while ACCS had only one big inning.

The bottom of the third for ACCS was a rally inning as they scored six runs.

The Rebels, however, just couldn’t match the Wildcat’s hitting.
