NATCHEZ — Enterprise Attendance Center scored in all but one inning as the Lady Yellow Jackets held off a late rally to defeat the Natchez High School Lady Bulldogs 16-10 Tuesday afternoon at the Natchez-Adams Girls Softball Complex.
Enterprise, which is located a few miles southeast of Brookhaven, led 6-2 after three innings of play and was on the verge of run-ruling Natchez High after scoring two runs in the top of the sixth inning for a 13-3 lead.
But the Lady Bulldogs would not let that happen as they plated three runs in the bottom of the sixth to keep the game going. The Lady Yellow Jackets scored three runs of their own in the top of the seventh to go up 16-6. Natchez High tried to put a scare into Enterprise with a rally in the bottom of the seventh.
Unfortunately, despite scoring four runs in the home half of the final inning, the Lady Bulldogs came up woefully short in their comeback bid.
Enterprise out-hit Natchez High 11 to 8 and took advantage of several walks issued by Lady Bulldogs pitcher Jayden Flowers, who got the start with Carleigh Sproulls unable to play.
Aysia Pollard went 2-for-4 and Karmen Bernard was 2-for-5 with a double.
Natchez High (6-4) doesn’t play again until Monday, April 15 for its final home game of the season when it takes on Vicksburg High School at 5 p.m.
Glenmora 9, Monterey 4
MONTEREY — The Glenmora High School Lady Wildcats took advantage of numerous defensive miscues by Monterey High School to defeat the Lady Wolves 9-4 Tuesday afternoon in what was the LHSAA District 5-B and regular-season finale for the home team.
Glenmora scored its first run of the game in the top of the second inning and then busted the game open with four runs in the top of the third to go up 5-0. Monterey tried to get a rally going by plating two runs in the bottom of the third to make it a 5-2 game.
However, the Lady Wildcats answered with one run in the top of the fourth inning and three runs in the top of the fifth to take a 9-2 lead. The Lady Wolves tried to get back in the game again, but the two runs they scored in the bottom of the fifth were not nearly enough.
Avery Cupit took the loss on the mound for the Lady Wolves, who were done in by eight errors. Andy Gray went 3-for-4 with a double, Sarah Gray was 2-for-4 with a double, and Hannah Hitt went 2-for-4.
Monterey (7-11, 3-3) now awaits where it will be seeded when the brackets for the LHSAA Class B Playoffs are revealed this afternoon.
Ouachita Christian School 13, Delta Charter 0 (5 innings)
STERLINGTON, La. — The Ouachita Christian School Lady Eagles defeated the Delta Charter School Lady Storm Tuesday afternoon in five innings in an LHSAA District 2-1A game. No other information on the game was available.
With the loss, Delta Charter fell to 8-14 overall and finished district play with a 1-4 record. The game was played at the Sterlington Recreation Complex in Sterlington after the recent inclement weather forced the game, which Delta Charter was supposed to host, to be moved to a new location due to unplayable field conditions at the Ferriday school.
And because of that, the Lady Storm ended up playing two games in one day. After taking on Ouachita Christian, Delta Charter traveled south to Winnsboro, La. to take on Class 4A Franklin Parish High School for its regular-season finale.
Franklin Parish 11, Delta Charter 2
WINNSBORO, La. — The second game of Delta Charter School’s district/non-district doubleheader did not go the way of the Lady Storm as they lost to the Franklin Parish High School Lady Patriots 11-2 Tuesday afternoon. No other information on this game was available.
Delta Charter finished its regular season with an overall record of 8-15. The Lady Storm will find out where it will be seeded for the LHSAA Class 1A Playoffs, its first-round opponent, and location, date and time this afternoon.
