NATCHEZ — Services for Boyd Dean “Chance” Alexander, 89, of Natchez, who died Monday, April 15, 2019, at his residence surrounded by his children, will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Jefferson Street United Methodist Church.  
Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Alexander was born Jan. 3, 1930, in Merkle, Texas, the son of Frank and Jewell Alexander.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving on Guam during the Korean War. Upon returning home, he began working in the oil fields of Texas. He and Marjorie Anne Wall were married in Sterling, Colo., in June 1954. Boyd began working in the oil and gas business in the early 1950s, becoming a certified petroleum landsman. They had five children, Deana Streetman, Kimberli Krick, Sharon Baity, Beverly Alexander and Boyd Alexander II.
The family moved to Natchez in 1975, and became involved in various groups such as the Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge and the Santa Claus parade. He and Margie were founding members of both the Krewe of Phoenix and the Krewe of Alpheus, serving as duke and duchess as well as grand duke and duchess on a number of occasions. Boyd served as Grand Marshall of the Krewe of Phoenix parade in 2017.
Boyd was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Anne, and two daughters, Deana Streetman and Kimberli Krick.
Survivors include three children, Sharon Baity and husband, David, Beverly Alexander and husband, Bobby, and Boyd Alexander and wife, Tonya; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
