Natchez woman charged with discharging gun in city limits

NATCHEZ — A Natchez woman faces a charge of discharging a firearm inside the city limits after police say she fired a gun into the air outside of the Cedarhurst Apartments on Sunday afternoon.
“At approximately 3:15 p.m. (Sunday), officers were dispatched to 201 Lumber St. to Cedarhurst Apartments in reference to shots fired,” said Walter Armstrong, Natchez police chief. “Upon arrival, officers made contact with a Crystal Jones, 29.”
Officers said investigation revealed that Jones fired three rounds in the air in response to three individuals beating on her door, refusing to stop and calling her out to fight.
“The three individuals and the victim had exchanged previous words,” Armstrong said. “The police were not called to the scene until after the shots were fired.”
Jones was booked on a charge of discharging a firearm inside the city limits and was held on a $250 bond.
