NATCHEZ — Megan Edmonds, former Natchez city clerk, started a new job Monday as the administrative assistant in the Adams County Circuit Clerk’s office.
Adams County Circuit Clerk, Eddie Walker said Edmonds was hired Monday and would train under Dianne White before White leaves the position to move out of the area at the end of the month.
“She fits the bill,” Walker said. “She used to work in the Chancery Clerk’s office as a deputy clerk for three or four years, and it’s the same computer system we use here. I needed someone who was familiar with the court’s system. Of course, she is not familiar with circuit court cases yet, but she will be. She will be in training for pretty much the whole month of May and she is doing pretty well at this point.”
Edmonds said she worked for the Chancery Clerk’s office until November 2016 when she started a job as an accountant for the City of Natchez and started as the interim city clerk one year later.
Edmonds was promoted to city clerk in December 2017 and resigned last August to run her family’s business while continuing to help the city as needed to finish out the fiscal year’s budget, she said.
Upon her resignation from the city clerk’s position, Edmonds said she helped run her family’s business and continues to do so on weekends.
As a former employee in the Chancery Clerk’s office, Edmonds said her new job in the Circuit Clerk’s office feels a bit “like moving home.”
“I worked in the Chancery Clerk’s office for Tommy O’Beirne and for Brandi Lewis, so what I will be doing here for Eddie is very similar to what I was doing,” Edmonds said. “It’s kind of crazy. You never know what life is going to throw at you. Moving back to the county is a bit like moving home.”
