Family escapes Monday night house fire
NATCHEZ — A Monday night fire damaged approximately 50% of a doublewide manufactured house at 136 Old Highway 84 in Adams County, fire officials said.
Natchez Fire Chief Ventris Green said the fire department received the call at 9:52 p.m. Monday and arrived on the scene at 10:05 p.m. to find the house engulfed in flames.
“We had it under control in about 30 minutes,” Green said. “Two trucks came out from Natchez Fire Department, and one volunteer truck showed up.”
Christopher Perry owns the manufactured house and four people were in the house when the fire broke out, Green said.
All occupants were able to get out of the house and no one was injured, Green said.
The fire damaged two bedrooms and the roof, Green said, and investigators believe the fire started when a light socket shorted out.
