Check out Kids College this summer

Summertime is upon us and kids will soon be out of school, demanding to be entertained. It can be challenging to come up with ways to occupy all their free time, especially if you don’t want them sitting around the house and in front of the T.V. all day, every day. Keep their young minds engaged and captivated this summer with our 2019 Summer Kids College program at Copiah-Lincoln Community College’s Natchez Campus. This year’s program has classes available in a variety of interests and age groups. In this environment, kids will be encouraged to be creative, think outside the box, be active, and learn through fun hands-on activities, experiments, and games!

June 17 – 20

4Fun with Numbers (Grades 3-5):  This is definitely not another boring math class! Math can be fun and kids will go home equipped with lots of resources to unlock the math whiz in them all!

4The World’s A Stage (Grades 3-6):  A hands-on look into life on the stage! This camp will focus on acting, improv, history, and all the other aspects of the vast world of theatre!

4Kids Yoga & Fitness (Grades 2-5):  Campers will have fun and explore the world of yoga and fitness through poses, activities, and games. Kids will learn healthy habits, focus, flexibility, self-confidence, and more!

June 24 – 17 

4Science Explorers (Grades 1-2):  Be amazed! Everyone will participate in tons of exciting, hands on experiments designed to peak curiosity and teach a lesson about this marvelous world of ours.

4Retro Gaming (Grades 3-5):  A tech-free gaming camp that will get kids to play games like Pictionary, UNO, Jacks, Scrabble, Connect 4, Go Fish, Hop Scotch, and many more! They will learn the importance of teamwork, the art of thinking on their feet, and the joys of a little competition. It is good clean fun without a screen!

4Tennis (Grades 3-5):  Campers will have fun while learning the basic strokes, rules, scoring, footwork, tennis etiquette, and effective ways to practice. Camp location is Duncan Park Tennis Center, 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.

July 15 – 18

4Cooking it Up in the Kitchen (Grades 1-2):  Your child will have fun discovering their inner chef while learning about healthy food alternatives and making their very own healthy snacks.   

4Art Academy (Grades 3-5):  Students will let their imaginations run free through a series of pour paintings, mixed media painting, clay sculpting, and homemade books/journals under the guidance of local artist Sálongo Lee.

4Cyber Camp (Grades 2-4):  Campers will explore the world of computers through exciting applications that include art, games, internet safety and keyboarding.

July 22 – 25 

4Art Attack (Grades 1-2):  Students will let their imaginations run free through a series of pour paintings, mixed media painting, clay sculpting, and homemade books/journals under the guidance of local artist Sálongo Lee.

4Butterfly Effect (Grades 3-5):  This will be the exploration of the life cycle of the butterfly through STEM, creative, and even edible activities. Kids will explore the migrations and destinations of certain species and get hands-on experience with the Monarch Butterfly Garden on Co-Lin’s campus.

Kids are sure to enjoy the time they spend at Co-Lin this summer and parents and grandparents will certainly appreciate the budget friendly fees. All classes are $50-65, which includes supplies and a daily snack. Students need to have completed the indicated grades. All classes are 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Co-Lin Natchez Campus, except for tennis, which is located at Duncan Park from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Pre-registration is required. In order to provide quality hands-on experiences, class space is limited, so sign up today!
