NATCHEZ — Natchez police officers are searching for a suspect who shot a man at the Cambridge Heights apartments Tuesday night, officials said.
The shooting occurred approximately 10 p.m. Tuesday, said Natchez Police Capt. Scott Frye, and police received the call at approximately 10:15 p.m.
The victim is a male in his mid-20s, who had what appeared to be a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, Frye said, and was flown to a Jackson hospital for treatment.
“We’ve heard rumors of another person being shot and alerted area hospitals,” Frye said, “but still don’t have anything right now.” Frye said the incident was still under investigation Wednesday.
“We don’t believe it to be domestic, and we don’t have a known cause right now,” Frye said.
Anyone with any information on the shooting, Frye said, should call the Natchez Police Department at 601-445-5565 and ask to speak to Frye or investigator Curtis Davis.
Or, call Crime Stoppers at 601-442-5000 to leave an anonymous tip and be eligible for a reward up to $2,500.
