VIDALIA — Concordia Parish Police Jury members in conjunction with members of lake boards and law enforcement on Thursday issued a “no wake zone, idle speeds only” for the Lake St. John Recreational District.

“Upon the recommendation of the Lake St. John Recreational District due to the continued risks of homes being flooded and safety concerns of submerged piers on Lake St. John and Lake Concordia, these lakes will continue to observe a ‘no wake zone, idle speeds only’ until further notice,” said Sandi Burley, secretary/treasurer Concordia Parish Police Jury.

Members of the board for Black River Lake and Horseshoe Lake recommended reopening these lakes with no restrictions, Burley said.

“However, we urge extreme caution when traveling through Workinger Bayou due to trees obstructing parts of the canal,” Burley said.
