NATCHEZ — Brumfield Electric’s Dixie Youth 11 and 12-year-old baseball team finished regular season play with a 9-3 record, which their coach said is the best in the league in their age group.
“The squad we had this year is a good bunch of players,” said Travis Smith coach. “One of the best teams I’ve ever had.”
Other coaches for Brumfield Electric this year were Lance Beesley and Boo Brumfield.
The six-week regular season play wrapped up Tuesday night for Brumfield Electric, Smith said.
Crews Marchbanks, a pitcher and first baseman had the highest batting average on the team, with .670, Smith said.
Hart Smith batted .428 and pitched a no-hitter on May 20 against Redd Pest, Travis Smith said, adding Hart Smith walked only three batters and Brumfield Electric won the game 4-1.
Blake Perkins batted .416.
