Natchez police are investigating Thursday night shooting

NATCHEZ — A Natchez man is being treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg after he told police he was shot by someone in a passing car Thursday night on Martin Luther King Jr. Street.

Natchez Police Chief Walter Armstrong said the incident was reported approximately 10:15 p.m. Thursday as the victim drove along the 800 to 900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Street after leaving a business on Franklin Street.

Armstrong said after the driver was shot he turned around and went back toward the business on Franklin Street and police responded to find him at Main and Martin Luther King Jr. streets.

“The victim was taken to the hospital and is hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries,” Armstrong said. “A passenger was in the vehicle but was not injured. The driver was injured.”

Armstrong said police are investigating the incident.

“We are talking to anyone we can,” Armstrong said.
