NATCHEZ — An email and, or texting scam bearing The Rev. David O’Connor’s name was reported to the Natchez Police Department on Friday afternoon.

Capt. Scott Frye of the Natchez Police Department said emails or text messages reportedly stating they were sent from O’Connor, the pastor of St. Mary Basilica on South Union Street.

The email requests purchase of $100 cards, Frye said, and O’Connor confirmed that he did not send any emails or text messages making that request.

Frye said the emails and texts are scams and anyone who receives them is advised not to respond and not to purchase any cards.
