VIDALIA — Concordia Parish deputies arrested a Vidalia man and his wife for cruelty to the infirm and false imprisonment for the alleged neglect of elderly grandparents who were in their care.
Sgt. John Cowan, an investigator for the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office, said deputies responded to a call at 283 Lynn Haven Drive on May 20, where they saw signs that the elderly grandparents of Rodney L. French, 34, were neglected and mistreated under his supervision.
Deputies arrested French on charges of cruelty to the infirm and false imprisonment with two counts of each.
On Friday, deputies arrested French’s wife, Ashley French, 31, at 392 Green Acres Road in Natchez on the same charges.
Cowan said the case is still under investigation and officials would not release further details at this time.
“Right now, both of the individuals who were placed in their care are fine and are being cared for by other family members,” Cowan said.
Both Rodney and Ashley French were still detained at Concordia Parish Sheriff’s office as of Monday afternoon with bonds of $100,750 and $100,000 respectively.
