VIDALIA — Concordia Parish deputies arrested a Ferriday man last week on a warrant for weapons and drug charges.

On Friday, deputies arrested Jarred Burns, 39, on charges including 18 counts of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, possession of schedule I and II controlled substances, possession of firearms while in possession of controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Chad Fuqua of the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office said Burns was pulled over in a traffic stop on Carter Street when deputies took him into custody on Friday for warrants issued last November when a parole agent questioned Burns and Burns gave consent for deputies to search his residence at 245 Calhoun Road in Ferriday.

“They retrieved several guns, some in plain view and some hidden, and methamphetamine, marijuana lying on the table with some marijuana and meth pipes,” Fuqua said. “(Burns) was cooperative and answered every question.”

Fuqua said deputies seized the weapons and drugs and sent them to the state crime lab for testing but did not arrest Burns until last Friday after a warrant had been issued.

Fuqua said investigators also learned Burns had been convicted in 2012 for obstruction of justice, felony possession of marijuana, illegal possession of a prescription drug and for carrying weapons while in possession of controlled substances.

Burns is held at the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office with a bond of $228,250, Fuqua said.
