VIDALIA — The Concordia Dixie Youth 7-8 Coach-Pitch All-Stars fared quite well for themselves in the month of June in the sub-district and district tournaments.

Two weeks ago, the Concordia 7-8 All-Stars finished in second place behind Winnsboro in the sub-district tournament that was held in Jonesville. Last weekend, they played in the 12-team district tournament held in Winnsboro, Louisiana, and came in third place behind Winnsboro, which won the tournament, and runner-up Rayville.

The top hitters for both tournaments were Jackson Shirley, Bryson Thornton, Lane Davis, Bryce Thompson, and Tayton Fife, said coach Whest Shirley.

Shirley noted that with their third-place finish in the district tournament, the Concordia Dixie Youth 7-8 Coach-Pitch All-Stars qualified for the state tournament in Ruston, Louisiana, where there will be 24 teams. That tournament will take place July 5-7.

“We are excited to be playing in the state tournament,” Shirley said.
