NATCHEZ— Services for Helen Ruth Phipps Washington, 72, of Natchez, who died Monday, July 8, 2019, in Natchez, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Egypt Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Ford Sr. officiating.   
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 4 to 5:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Washington was born Sept. 11, 1946, in Natchez, the daughter of Otis Phipps and Edna Christmas Phipps.
She was a retired certified nursing assistant and a member of Egypt Baptist Church where she served as a deaconess.  She enjoyed fishing and shopping.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Ida Pearl Montgomery, Claudia Mae Easton and Thelma Dixon; six brothers, Larry Phipps, Isaac Phipps, Coy Phipps, Louis Phipps, O.W. Phipps and Otis James Phipps.
Survivors include her husband, Eli Washington; one daughter, Lawanda Jones and husband, Gregory; one granddaughter, Jasmine G. Jones; and other relatives and friends.
