James “Rickey” Gray announces his candidacy for re-election as Supervisor, Adams County in District 4.
Gray is a 19-year veteran in county and city politics. He was first in 2000 to the Board of Aldermen and served four successive terms. He has completed his first term as Supervisor of District 4 and seeks the votes of the constituents of that district to return him to office.
Since being elected to the Adams County Board of Supervisors, Gray has worked diligently to stay in touch with his constituency. Working daily on the things that will improve and enhance the total quality of life in this community has been a personal passion of Gray. Gray states that this will be his quest for all of District 4 and Adams County.
Over the past 19 years Gray has worked to develop meaningful relationships with local, state and federal officials. This networking has allowed Gray many successful lobbying opportunities. Some of the projects that have been successfully lobbied for by Gray include:
- $400,000 in Emergency Watershed Projects
- $600,000 in road and street improvements
- Team Player in securing easements for the 1.6 million dollar Morgantown Road Project
Gray believes in knowing the rules of the game. Therefore, upon election as Supervisor in 2016, he immediately began attending Mississippi Association of Supervisors’ conferences which provide meaningful, informative and useful information on topics that will expand the elected official’s knowledge and capabilities. Gray has used these classes to help secure funding to reinforce the levy system at the industrial park, providing needed infrastructure in that area which will ultimately make the industrial park a primary contender for the relocation of significant jobs to this area. Several wards within the city of Natchez are also in Supervisory District 4. Gray has worked with Alderman Frazier and Alderwomen Irving and Mathis to provide re-surfacing of selected streets in those wards.
As a child, Gray was introduced to the sport of swimming by his father. Because of that introduction and training, Gray is a staunch supporter of water sports and the benefits these activities can provide to the youth, adults and elderly of this community. Gray worked diligently to bring a first-class new swim institution to Natchez and Adams County.
Gray worked with the Natchez Housing Authority to establish the Youth Build Program and with Southwest Planning to bring SNAP (Special Needs Assistance Program) grants to the county constituents. This is a program Gray championed during his tenue as Alderman of Ward 2 in the city.
James “Rickey” Gray asks for your prayers, vote and support to secure a true victory on August 6, 2019, as Supervisor of District 4, Adams County.
