Prep football round up: Natchez beats WCHS 34-18

WOODVILLE — The Natchez High School Bulldogs took a double-digit lead at halftime and then held on in the second half for a 34-18 win over the Wilkinson County High School Wildcats Friday night.

MHSAA Class 5A Natchez High scored in every quarter, including a pivotal 12-point second quarter that gave the Bulldogs an 18-6 lead over Class 3A Wilkinson County.

Natchez High (1-0) plays host to Jefferson County High School next Friday at 7 p.m. Wilkinson County (0-1) visits Amite County High School at 7 p.m. next Friday.

WCCA 41, Kemper Academy 12

DEKALB — Wilkinson County Christian Academy senior wide receiver RJ Fisher accounted for five total touchdowns as the visiting Rams defeated the host Kemper Academy Rams 41-12 Friday night in MAIS 8-Man football action.

RJ Fisher had five catches for 98 yards and four touchdown receptions. His first touchdown of the night was actually a five-yard run at the 7:54 mark of the second quarter. He had TD catches of 49, 14, 12, and 22 yards.

Brayson Boeta completed 10 of 19 passes for 131 yards with those four TD passes and no interceptions. Roderick Bailey had a big game on both sides of the ball — 19 carries for 84 yards on offense to go with nine tackles, two interceptions, and two fumble recoveries, one of which occurred on a lateral that he returned 33 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Cane Lanehart added nine tackles and two sacks for a WCCA defense that held Kemper Academy to 159 yards of total offense and forced six turnovers.

WCCA (1-0) hosts Ben’s Ford Christian School next Friday at 7 p.m.

Magee 32, Jefferson County 0

MAGEE — Chandler Pittman and Xavier Franks each had two touchdown runs to lead the Magee High School Trojans to a 32-0 win over the Jefferson County High School Tigers Friday night.

Pittman had a nine-yard touchdown run just one minute into the game and a four-yard TD run with 1:35 to go until halftime that helped Magee jump out to a 27-0 halftime lead. Franks had touchdown runs of nine yards nearly midway through the first quarter and 14 yards late in the second quarter.

Samuel Rials had a 41-yard field goal and Kendarious Dampeer had a safety on defense for Magee.

Jefferson County (0-1) plays at Natchez High School next Friday at 7 p.m.

Centreville Academy 30,

New Orleans Home School 7

CENTREVILLE — After giving up an early touchdown, the Centreville Academy Tigers scored 30 unanswered points as they defeated the New Orleans Home School Saints 30-7 Friday night.

New Orleans Home School took the opening kickoff and ran it back for a long touchdown just 12 seconds into the game for an early 7-0 lead. But any thoughts on an upset ended quickly as Centreville scored two touchdowns in the final 6:35 of the opening quarter for a 16-7 lead.

The Tigers would add two more touchdowns in the second quarter for a 30-7 halftime lead, and that would be it for the scoring.

Centreville Academy (1-0) plays at Bowling Green School next Friday with kickoff slated for 7 p.m.

Northeast Jones 33, Franklin County 6

MEADVILLE — The Northeast Jones High School Tigers used a big second quarter to take control as they defeated the Franklin County High School Bulldogs 33-6 Friday night.

MHSAA Class 4A Northeast Jones led 20-0 at halftime before Class 3A Franklin County scored its only touchdown with 6:41 left in the third quarter. But the Tigers responded with two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

Franklin County (0-1) hosts South Pike High School next Friday with a 7 p.m. kickoff.
