CLAYTON— Services for Michael “Mike” Smith, 46, of Clayton, who died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019, in Ferriday, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Sunnyside Church with the Rev. Kevin Skipper and the Rev. Denny Braswell officiating.
Burial will follow at Highland Park Cemetery in Sicily Island under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.        
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the church.
Mr. Smith was born Dec. 15, 1972, in Natchez, the son of Edwin Smith and Mildred Smith.
Mike spent 24 years working for Ferriday Farm and Goldman Equipment. He enjoyed hunting, riding in his jeep and spending time with his kids and grandkids. He never met a stranger and was always willing to give a helping hand. Mike was a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend to everyone. He will be missed by anyone who knew him.
Mike was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Chester Verbeck; paternal grandparents, Cecil and Mary Smith; maternal grandparents, Jack and Charlcy Watson; and one granddaughter, Cadance Parker.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene Smith; his mother; three daughters, Emma King and husband, Dillon, of Ferriday, Ashley Parker and husband, James, of Jonesville, and Brandy Butts of Frogmore; two sons, Ruben Smith of Natchitoches, Louisiana, and Randall Butts and wife, Destiny, of Ridgecrest; two sisters, Lisa Faye Barron and husband, Eddie, of Sicily Island, and Joyce Smith Cupit of Clayton; 12 grandchildren, Shanley, Dawson, Rick-Man, Kaiser, Riley, Dean, Carson, Shasta, Eric, Olivia, Peyton and Titan; and a number of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Skipper, Chris Temple Sr., Brad Adams, Jack Little, Trey Corbett, Mickey King, Ryan Thompson and Tanner Coldiron.
Honorary pallbearers will be Edward Humphries, Cam Avery, Perry Corbett, Ted Humphries and his Goldman Equipment family.
