NATCHEZ — Ricky Warren dropped out of the race for Adams County Circuit Clerk Monday, leaving only two candidates in that race that will be on the ballots in the Nov. 5 general election.
The race is now narrowed to Deputy Circuit Clerk Eva Givens, a Democrat, and Charlie Vess, an independent.
Warren, who is a service manager at the Sango Chrysler Dodge Jeep and Ram dealership on Seargent S. Prentiss Drive, said he felt dropping out of the race would be the best decision for his family and career.
“I’ve been thinking about it and praying about it, and I’ve decided that this is not what I needed to be doing at this point in time,” Warren said. “I’m at a great place right now working at Sango’s and decided this is the best thing for myself and my family. I wanted to make a difference in this community, but the political process in this area is pretty rough and difficult to be in.”
Warren said the race went well for him even with its challenges, and he encouraged voters to make an educated decision in the upcoming election.
“It was a good race for me, and I honestly thought I had a pretty good chance of beating the other two candidates,” Warren said. “From what I’ve heard there are a lot of people who are disappointed in my decision, but I felt it was the right thing to do.
“I do want to ask the people to think seriously before they vote for the next circuit clerk. Be sure to pick someone with experience and someone who can actually run the office.”
