Prep football round up: Silliman rolls past ACCS

NATCHEZ — Adams County Christian School had some success moving the ball against Silliman Institute Friday night in a pivotal MAIS District 3-5A game for both teams. However, turnovers and penalties proved to be costly for ACCS as the Rebels ended up being shut out by the Wildcats 26-0.
D.J. Stampley came in for an injured Glaston Magee at quarterback and had a rough performance, going 3-for-10 for 68 yards with five interceptions. Stampley was the Rebels’ leading rushing with 73 yards on seven carries.
Silliman running back Jack Jackson accounted for three total touchdowns. Jackson scored on a 66-yard TD pass from Brock Berthelot as well as scoring runs of two and six yards.
The Rebels also fumbled the ball three times, losing one of them, and had a touchdown called back by a penalty. Blake LePrairie led the defense with nine tackles.
ACCS (4-2, 1-1) steps out of district play next Friday when it plays at Brookhaven Academy at 7 p.m.
Caldwell Parish 52, Vidalia 16
VIDALIA — The LHSAA Class 3A Caldwell Parish High School Spartans remained undefeated with an emphatic 52-16 win over the Class 2A Vidalia High School Vikings Friday night. No other information on this game was available.
Vidalia (1-3) begins LHSAA District 2-2A play next Friday at 7 p.m. at Rayville High School.
Franklin County 38, Raymond 26
MEADVILLE — Quarterback Trent Tindle accounted for four total touchdowns and 224 total yards of offense as the Franklin County High School Bulldogs defeated the Raymond High School Rangers 38-26 on homecoming Friday night for their first win of the season.
Tindle ran for 151 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries and threw for 63 yards and two touchdowns on 3-for-3 passing. Makyilan Covington had 94 yards rushing and two touchdowns.
Franklin County (1-5) plays at Wilkinson County High School Friday at 7 p.m. in not only the MHSAA Region 7-3A opener for both teams, but also the Wildcats’ homecoming game.
WCCA 56, Franklin Academy 8
WOODVILLE — Roderick Bailey had three total touchdown while Brayson Boeta had two touchdown passes and ran for another as the Wilkinson County Christian Academy Rams took care of the Franklin Academy Cougars 56-8 in WCCA’s homecoming game Friday night.
WCCA led just 14-8 with 48 seconds left in the first quarter before Boeta scored on a nine-yard run with five seconds to go in the opening quarter for a 21-8 lead. The Rams took over from there and Franklin Academy could do little to slow them down.
The Rams held the Cougars to 115 yards of total offense and forced three turnovers.
WCCA (5-1) plays at Christian Collegiate Academy in its MAIS District 2-1A opener Friday at 7 p.m.
Riverfield Academy 65,
Cathedral 38
RAYVILLE, La. — The Riverfield Academy Raiders scored two touchdowns late in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 65-38 win over Cathedral High School Friday night and knock the Green Wave out of contention for the MAIS District 4-4A championship.
Cathedral jumped out to a 20-8 lead early in the second quarter, but by the time halftime arriver, Riverfield had a 30-26 lead. The Green Wave briefly took the lead early in the third quarter, but once the Raiders retook the lead, they took control of the game.
Cathedral (3-3, 2-2) hosts Clinton Christian Academy Friday at 7 p.m. It will be Senior Night as well as the Pink Wave game.
Oak Grove 56, Delta Charter 8
OAK GROVE, La. — The Oak Grove High School Tigers scored 35 points in the second quarter and cruised to a 56-8 win over the Delta Charter School Storm Friday night in LHSAA District 2-1A action.
Delta Charter avoided the shutout with 10:30 remaining in the game on a 19-yard touchdown run by Tre Griffin. Hayden McFarland added the two-point conversion run.
Delta Charter (0-4, 0-1) hosts district rival Sicily Island High School Friday at 7 p.m.
Centreville Academy 44,
Porter’s Chapel Academy 6
VICKSBURG — Thanks to a 30-point second quarter, the Centreville Academy Tigers rolled to a 44-6 win over the Porter’s Chapel Academy Eagles Friday night.
The Tigers scored four touchdowns and three two-point conversions in the second quarter for a 38-0 halftime lead. Porter’s Chapel scored with 5:00 left to avoid the shutout.
Centreville Academy (3-3) returns to MAIS District 3-3A action Friday night at 7 p.m. when it hosts Sylva-Bay Academy.
Lanier 34,
Jefferson County 28 (OT)
JACKSON — Jefferson County High School rallied back from deficits of 22-6 and 28-14 in the second half to force overtime, but the Lanier High School Bulldogs were able to escape with a 34-28 win over the Tigers Friday night.
Jefferson County (2-4) plays at rival Port Gibson High School Friday night in its MHSAA Region 7-3A opener.
Ouachita Christian 54,
Sicily Island 14
SICILY ISLAND — The Ouachita Christian School Eagles defeated the Sicily Island High School Tigers 54-14 Friday night in the LHSAA District 2-1A opener for both teams. No other information on the game was available.
Sicily Island (2-2, 0-1) plays at Delta Charter School Friday night.
South Pike 58,
Wilkson County 8
MAGNOLIA — The South Pike High School Eagles proved why they are the No. 1 team in Class 4A with a 58-8 win over the Wilkinson County High School Wildcats Friday night.
Wilkinson County jumped out an early 8-0 lead, but it was all South Pike from there. The Eagles took the lead for good at 14-8 near the end of the first quarter.
Wilkinson County (1-5) hosts Region 7-3A rival Jefferson County High School for homecoming Friday at 7 p.m.
Bunkie 35, Block 2 (Thurs. night)
BUNKIE, La. — The Bunkie High School Panthers used a big second quarter to pull away from Block High School as they defeated the Bears 35-2 Thursday night.
A safety by Block early in the second quarter made it a 7-2 game, but Bunkie unanswered points for a 28-2 halftime lead.
Block (1-3) plays host to Bolton High School on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m.
