NATCHEZ — A Franklin County man charged in a May 2018 strangulation death of an Adams County woman is back in the Adams County Jail after completing time in the state penitentiary at Parchman for a prior parole violation.
When Gary Dewayne Mitchell, 34, of Meadville was arrested and charged with the strangulation death of Ashley Coleman Touchstone at 108 Tate Road in Adams County on May 4, 2018, he was out on parole for a prior burglary offense, said Lt. Cal Green of the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.
“He (Mitchell) has not been to trial on the strangulation yet,” Green said, “and no date has been set for a trial on the strangulation death. We were waiting to get him back so he hasn’t been to trial.”
Investigators said they found Touchstone’s nude body beneath a porch and preliminary autopsy reports indicated blunt force trauma and strangulation to be the cause of death.
After interviewing several people, Adams County Sheriff’s Office investigators charged Mitchell and the offense was a violation of his parole on the burglary charge, so he was sent back to prison to complete his time.
