JONESVILLE — The Block High School Bears scored first, but the Bolton High School Bears scored in bunches afterwards in the first half as the visiting and LHSAA Class 4A Bears from Alexandria, La. defeated the host and Class 1A Bears 55-28 last Saturday night.
Block jumped out to an 8-0 lead at the 10:49 mark of the first quarter, but Bolton (4-1) tied the game at 8-all with 8:19 to go in the opening quarter. The visiting Bears took the lead for good at 16-8 near the end of the quarter and would take a commanding 39-8 lead into halftime.
The host Bears tried to come back in the second half, but could only get as close as 45-22 with 4:35 left in the third quarter as Bolton was just too much for Block to keep up with.
Block (1-4) plays host to the Logansport High School Tigers in the LHSAA District 3-1A opener for both teams Friday at 7 p.m. Logansport dropped to 0-5 overall after a tough 20-16 loss at home to Class 3A Mansfield High School last Friday night.
