VIDALIA — Coinciding with the Natchez Balloon Festival, the Town of Vidalia will host carnival festivities of its own throughout the weekend.
Hannah Junkin, the town’s marketing director said Vidalia’s annual Flea Market and Carnival starts today and will last through 5 p.m. Sunday on the Vidalia riverfront.
After dark Friday, attendees will already be in a great viewing spot for a firework show over the Mississippi River as they partake in more than 10 carnival rides, including a funhouse, spinner, orbiter, swings, carousel, scrambler, slides and a miniature ride, Junkin said.
Rides will open at 5 p.m. Friday, tickets to which are $1.25 each or $20 for a family pack of 18 tickets, Junkin said.
The carnival lasts until 10 p.m. Friday, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, she said.
While the kids are at play, the rest of the family can shop for handmade goodies at the Flea Market, Junkin said.
“There will be 40 plus vendors,” she said. “They will have food, clothing, toys, novelty items, pottery, jewelry, handbags, arts and crafts, home décor, antiques and more.”
The Flea Market lasts from noon until 10 p.m. today, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Junkin said.
Live entertainment would also be provided on Saturday with music from local singer, Cloi Cummings of Monterey and dance performances from the Glory Bound Cloggers of Jonesville, Junkin said.
