Cathedral 18, St. Aloysius 35

VICKSBURG — Cathedral dropped their road game 35-18 to St. Aloysius in a downpour Friday night, but head football coach Chuck Darbonne said the Green Wave is looking ahead to playoffs.

The Green Wave will host (most likely) Winston Academy in the first round of Midsouth Association of Independent Schools District 2-4A playoffs, Darbonne said.

Cathedral, 7-3, finished sixth seed and Winston Academy is 11th seed.

“It’s a big improvement,” Darbonne said. “I’m proud of how our season ended.”

As for Friday night’s loss to St. Aloysius, Darbonne said the rain and mud made for a sloppy game with too many turnovers.

“There was a lot of turnovers on both sides, with sloppy technique in first half,” Darbonne said. “We had a sloppy turnover with three minutes left and they punched that in. In the second half, we couldn’t cut the deficit got further behind. We played really well second half.”

Bryson Moore scored two rushing touchdowns for Cathedral and J.C. Harris scored one.
