The offices of Adams County Tax Assessor and Tax Collector are important to the operation of all of Adams County government.

Fair and accurate assessments of properties are important in determining the amount of taxes citizens owe to the county.

Being able to communicate with collectors and pay our taxes in a timely and efficient manner are important to each and every resident who pays taxes.

Therefore, we would argue no more important roles exist in county government than tax assessor and tax collector.

Experience is a key factor in our choice of candidates we favor for those positions in the Nov. 5 general election.

For Adams County Tax Assessor’s office, we recommend Douglas Atkins, who is the grandson of Reynolds Atkins who has held the Adams County Tax Assessor’s position for many years.

Under Reynolds Atkins the Adams County Tax Assessor’s office has run efficiently and Douglas Atkins said he has studied the operations, picked up advice from his grandfather and plans to operate the office in a similar fashion.

For the Adams County Tax Collector’s office, we recommend Rose Daniel Patterson, who worked in the office for many years under different tax collectors.

Patterson has been out of the office for a few years, but we believe her experience and expertise in that office would ensure a smooth transition.
