VIDALIA — All of the Concordia Parish law enforcement community is invited to attend a morning coffee reception in their honor on Friday at the Vidalia Library. Citizens of the parish are invited as well to celebrate this occasion.
The event is sponsored by the Concordia Parish Library board and staff to express deep appreciation for the dedication and commitment these men and women display 24-hours a day. A special invitation has been extended to CPSO Deputy Walter Mackel, who was seriously injured in a July 25 incident in Vidalia.
The event will be from 10 a.m. to noon, with a brief note of welcome at 11.
“Not only do we as a Library board and staff want to express our appreciation to all of them, but we want to give the public the opportunity to convey their thanks as well,” Library Director Amanda Taylor said.
“It’s clear from recent incidents in our own parish that any normal day can suddenly and inexplicably turn precarious and tragic,” Board President Kathleen Stevens said. “We want to take the time out of this day to pause and say ‘Thank you for all you do — the sacrifices you make for all of us — every single day.’”
The public library looks forward to welcoming the law enforcement community and the citizens of the parish. The Vidalia branch of the Concordia Parish Library is located at 408 Texas Street.
