NATCHEZ — The 2019 Adams County General Election had few surprises as voters made their way out to the polls Tuesday.

A little more than 51% of voters cast their ballots during Tuesday’s election.

Apart from a little trouble printing out results from a few machines, Election Commissioner Larry Gardner said overall the election was no trouble at all.

“The good thing about it is the memory cards are the brains of the machine, so if you pull them out and print from another machine the results are exactly the same,” Gardner said.

Gardner said the results were tallied using a new server while the old memory had been wiped clean — which also meant preliminary results for this election were able to be loaded a lot faster.

“The boxes are coming in quickly and the memory cards are loading quicker because we cleared out a bunch of the backup memory,” Gardner said. “We also had to replace the server because the old one was fried. It was only 14 years old.”

Gardner said all results are unofficial until absentee and affidavit votes are counted and approved.

“I’m not sure how many affidavits we have but we had over 850 absentee votes out there that haven’t been counted yet, so everything is pretty unofficial,” he said.
