NATCHEZ — The Natchez Community Stewpot is asking people to donate canned green vegetables.

Stewpot Director Amanda Jeansonne sent out an email request to supporters on Tuesday asking for the donations.

“Thank you to the Natchez community for supporting the Stewpot!” Jeansonne wrote. “We have already served over 85,000 meals this year and the numbers are going up.  It takes 11 of the #10 cans (or 80 small cans) for each daily meal. Today, our greatest need is #10 cans of green vegetables. These can be dropped off at the Stewpot Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Many thanks!”

The Stewpot, located at 69 E. Franklin St., Natchez, is a charitable organization devoted to feeding people in need, particularly the elderly, handicapped and shut-ins.
