In tonight’s games, four Miss-Lou teams remain in the playoffs.

The Game of the Week is the No. 1 seed Ferriday High Trojans hosting the No. 32 Vinton High Lions for the first round of the Louisiana High School Athletics Association Class 2A playoffs.

Ferriday (9-1) won the District 2-2A outright for this season and are on a nine-game winning streak going into Friday night’s home playoff game against the Lions. At Melz Field, the Trojans have won every game, boasting a perfect 5-0 record.

In the last five games of the regular season, the Trojans held opponents to under 10 points.

Vinton (4-5) comes into the first round playoff game as the No. 32 seed. The Lions are on a two-game losing streak.

Trojans Head Coach Stanley Smith said the Lions are running a spread-type of offense and they’re throwing the ball. Smith added the Lions defense has brought more pressure to opposing quarterbacks.

“To stop the Lions pressure, we have to make sure we understand our blocking assignments,” Smith said.

The two teams faced last season in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs. The Trojans won 54-0 en route to a semifinal finish.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m. today at Melz Field at Ferriday High School.
