NATCHEZ — A man suspected in the shooting an Adams County woman in the back early Saturday morning came to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office Monday morning accompanied by his lawyer.
A warrant was issued for Kishaun Marquez Woods after he reportedly shot Kendra Hunter, 19, in the back.
ACSO deputies responded to a shots fired call in the area Grove Acres Road at approximately 12:25 a.m. Saturday, an ACSO news release said.
While en route to the scene, deputies were notified that Hunter had been transported to Merit Health Hospital with a gunshot wound in the back. Hunter was then transported to a Jackson-area hospital where she is recovering.
Hunter told ACSO officials that she was approached by Woods at Walmart. Wood’s is the ex-boyfriend of Hunter’s sister, Kiera Harper. Hunter said she called Harper and told her that Woods was being aggressive toward her so she left the store.
Woods reportedly followed Hunter home where another altercation started. Woods pulled a gun and fired a shot, the news release said.
No charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing.
“Woods was interviewed by investigators who declined to place him under arrest pending further investigation,” the news release said.
