NATCHEZ — The Downtown Natchez pop-up market, traditionally held on Fridays, has been rescheduled to Saturday and will continue to be hosted from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturdays at 300 Broadway Street going forward, organizers said.

“A lot of people said because we did it on Friday they couldn’t get there because of work, so we decided Saturday would be a better day to do it,” Farmer’s market director Eddie Burkes said.

The pop-up market — which kicks off this weekend — gives local growers, bakers and dairy farmers the opportunity to sell all of their edible goods directly to consumers without grocery chains acting as the middle-man, Burkes said.

Seasonal Saturday markets hosted downtown have attracted more attention from weekend shoppers, Burkes said. After some deliberation, moving the pop-up market to Saturday’s seemed to be the best way for local producers of year-round edibles to market their products, he said.

“This will give more people the opportunity to be a part of the farmer’s market,” Burkes said.
