ASU Natchez Alumni Chapter needs you

Who Wants the Smoke? This simple chant is the theme of the 2019 Alcorn State University football season. Fans “bravely” chanted the theme all season, as the band provided the music, at home and away games alike. The football team didn’t disappoint either.

The ASU Natchez Alumni Chapter is looking for this same energy from the football season to assist in the chapter’s continued mission of supporting students, the university and the national alumni association. Although many alumni pay their dues, we need some more members to pay dues and give their time and talents to make the ASU Natchez Alumni Chapter even better.

The chapter has, over the years, supported local students accepted to Alcorn State University through scholarships, in addition to, represented the interests of local alumni members at the Midwinter Conference and on the national level. We want our chapter, though small in size, yet big at heart, to continue to be viable in supporting and representing the university.

The current chapter president, r. Henry Houze, is giving up his gavel. We want to celebrate his dedication to the ASU Natchez Alumni Chapter during a reception for him at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, in the annex of Pilgrim Baptist Church.

For those who come out to help celebrate his leadership, we are asking that you bring your alumni dues, a new recruit, and a desire to enhance the chapter by choosing to dedicate your services to the chapter in any way that will make us better. Refreshments will be served and tickets will be drawn for door prizes.

Even if you cannot physically come, please make arrangements to pay your alumni dues and recruit a new member. For more information, contact chapter treasurer, Ronnie Brooks Sr. at 769-355-2390.

Angela B. Brooks,
