Help charities this Christmas season

Now that the Christmas season is upon us, let us not forget those among us who give of themselves to help others.
The Miss-Lou is blessed with an abundance of charitable organizations that work year around to help people who are less fortunate and Christmas is a particularly busy time of year for such organizations.
Some organizations focus efforts on children in need. Others focus on senior citizens in need. Groups help people struggling with addictions or domestic abuse and still other organizations devote their time and resources to helping animals.
In this season of giving, let us not forget those organizations and the people who give of themselves to help others through those groups.
Today, The Natchez Democrat launches our annual Season of Wishes series in which we profile different charitable organizations in the days leading up to Christmas.
Each day of publication we will highlight a different organization. Some of those organizations are only focused on Christmas, others have needs year around.
We encourage readers to pay attention to the stories and find an organization you would like to support in their mission.
Or perhaps you will find an organization that can help you or someone you know who has a need.
As you are making your Christmas lists, we encourage you to add one or more of these organizations to your lists to support them in your Christmas giving.
That way more people will be able to have a Merry Christmas this year.
