VICKSBURG — Three players for Adams County Christian School’s varsity boys’ soccer team scored at least two goals as the Rebels defeated the Porter’s Chapel Academy Eagles 11-0 last Thursday afternoon.
Juan Boteo finished with a hat trick and it didn’t take him long to do so. Boteo scored the first, third, and fourth goals for ACCS in the early stages of the first half to give the Rebels a 4-0 lead. Samuel Merriett scored the second goal for the visitors from Natchez.
Will Ray scored two goals, the first of which gave the Rebels a 5-0 lead and the second one finished off the Eagles. The match was shortened to 50 minutes by the “mercy rule”.
The Rebels’ sixth goal of the match was actually an inadvertent own goal by Porter’s Chapel. Alex Patterson made it 7-0 and Nolan Owens, fresh off a hat trick last Tuesday against Brookhaven Academy, scored two goals to give ACCS a 9-0 lead.
Isaiah Saunders got in on the act as his goal would give the Rebels a 10-0 lead.
ACCS (9-3) traveled to Vicksburg on Saturday for two games at the St. Aloysius Shootout. After that, the Rebels will be off for a few weeks for the Christmas/New Year’s holidays before playing host to Jackson Academy on Tuesday, Jan. 7 with the varsity game at 3 p.m., followed by the junior varsity game.
