NATCHEZ— Services for Arthur James Johnson Sr., 65, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2019, at Merit Health Natchez, were Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, at New Beginnings Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. LeRoy White officiating.

Burial followed at LaGrange Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.

Mr. Johnson was born June 26, 1954, in Natchez, the son of Vernon Lee Johnson and Ruby Lee Johnson.

He was a 1974 graduate of North Natchez High School and attended Alcorn State University.

He was a member of New Beginnings Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother, Jelena Jackson Johnson; and one daughter, Porcha Néttaye Johnson.

Survivors include Edna Rose Johnson; two sons, Arthur Johnson Jr. and Travis Johnson of Natchez; one grandson, Christopher Johnson; one granddaughter, Tra’Miah Johnson; one sister, Ruth Walker and husband, Kenneth Ray, of Natchez; a devoted nephew, Ken Walker Jr.; mother-in-law, Rosa Lee Fowler; and two sisters-in-law, Delores Johnson and Frances Jackson, all of Gonzalez, Louisiana.

Pallbearers were Corey Graves, James Isabelle, Adrian Johnson, Eric Martin, Marcus Miller and Jermaine Smith.
