FERRIDAY— Services for Charlie Palmer, 72 of Vidalia, who died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2019, in Baton Rouge, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Young’s Funeral Home Ferriday Chapel with the Rev. Charles Bobo and the Rev. Ron Ledford officiating.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Charlie Palmer was born Sept. 10, 1947, in Magnolia, Arkansas, the son of James Byron Palmer and Nora Mae Palmer.

He was a lifelong resident of Vidalia and worked as a welder and diesel mechanic for a number years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and regularly attended the men’s meetings. Charlie especially enjoyed his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and miniature grey hound.

He was preceded in death by his father; grandparents, Charles and Naomi Barkheimer and Oscar and Ila Bell Palmer.

Survivors include his mother, Nora Mae Palmer; two sisters, Patricia Greene and husband, Bruce, and Mary Greene and husband, James, all of Vidalia; six nieces and nephews, Bruce Greene, Jessica Greene, Buffy Greene, Johnny Greene, Jay Greene and Justin Greene; and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Greene, Conner Greene, Jay Greene, Bruce Greene Jr. and Brandon Greene.
