NATCHEZ — The Natchez High Lady Bulldogs lost 46-45 to Franklin County High Bulldogs on Friday.
Natchez High School Lady Bulldogs Basketball Head Coach Alphaka Moore said a Franklin County High School Lady Bulldogs player while trying to make a three-pointer fouled McNeil. McNeil made all three free throws and stole the ball from a Franklin County player.
Moore said McNeil dribbled down the court and missed the layup.
“It was definitely a learning moment for us,” Moore said. “We have had a few games where we have come out, not really focused in the beginning of the game and then we have to battle back. To lose that type of game, it was another reminder that you have to come out and bring your A-game.”
The Lady Bulldogs will play in the Hattiesburg tournament at a time to be announced on Dec. 26-28. At practices leading up to the tournament, Moore said the Lady Bulldogs would focus on the mistakes made in the last couple of games and focus on making free throws.
ACCS vs. Riverfield Academy
NATCHEZ — The ACCS Lady Rebels and the Riverfield Academy Lady Raiders went back and forth for three quarters, but Riverfield pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 43-35 victory.
Riverfield led ACCS 8-7 at the end of the first quarter, but the Lady Rebels (1-7) outscored the Lady Raiders 10-9 in the second quarter to make it 17-17 at halftime. Riverfield led by just two points, 24-22, at the end of the third quarter before outscoring the Lady Rebels 19-13 in the fourth quarter.
Brooke Collier led the Lady Rebels with eight points and Halle Peterman had seven points. Jordan Sanders, who poured in a game-high 20 points, led the Lady Raiders.
Both of ACCS’s varsity teams will return to the court on Friday, Jan. 3, when they play host to Parklane Academy. The action will begin with the varsity girls’ game at 1 p.m., followed by the seventh-grade boys’ game, then the junior varsity boys’ game, and wrapping up with the varsity boys game. The JV girls will not play on that date.
