Two qualify for Ward 6 alderperson race in Natchez election

NATCHEZ — Two more candidates submitted qualifying papers for the Natchez Ward 6 Alderman position in the upcoming 2020 municipal election.
As of Friday, Arrick Rice, an assistant to Natchez Mayor Darryl Grennell, and local business owner Queen Ella Wilson, are both running as Democrats against incumbent Alderman Dan Dillard for Ward 6.
Below are other candidates who have filed to run for Natchez positions as of 5 p.m. Friday:
Mayor
Ernest “Tony” Fields and Dan Gibson are both running as Democrats for the seat being vacated by Grennell, who announced in December he would not be seeking reelection as mayor.
Ward 1
Valencia Hall has filed to run against incumbent Ward 1 Alderwoman Joyce Arceneaux-Mathis
Ward 2
Incumbent Alderman Billie Joe Frazier
Ward 4
Incumbent Alderwoman Felicia Irving
Ward 5
Incumbent Alderman Ben Davis
The deadline for candidates to qualify for the City of Natchez election is Feb. 7 and the primary election is April 7. Runoff elections, if necessary, will be April 28, followed by the general election on June 2.
