NATCHEZ — The Adams County Airport Commission is hosting an Open House from 10:30 a.m. until noon Thursday at the Natchez Convention Center to update people on the airport’s master plan that has been in the works for a year.
“The Master Plan basically is a presentation of our consultants and what they’ve done over the last year,” said Gary Holloway, airport commission chairman. “This is required by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) to do this master plan so ultimately the FAA basically paid for the lion’s share of it.”
Holloway said the master plan is projecting the airport’s needs and where the airport will be five and 10 years into the future.
“What are our needs?” Holloway said the master plan would help determine. “We have a huge project coming up in the next 12 to 18 months we hope to go and re-do one of the runways that we have out there, basically an overlay project.”
Holloway said the open house will have displays set up and the consultant will be on hand to address questions and get input from the public.
“We will talk about (the overlay project), and there are a lot of other little side projects that they have suggested that we need to look in to and try to improve our airport,” Holloway said. “People can walk around and see different displays. All citizens are invited and you can see what we are doing and what our consultants have done. We give them all the credit. They’ve done a great job.”
