NATCHEZ — Cornerstone Church of Vidalia leaders said they anticipate opening a new church at the former Trinity School this summer now that they have closed on purchasing the facility.

Church Pastor, Rev. Daniel “Danny” Reed announced in September that the church would renovate the school to accommodate its growing congregation. Trinity closed the school at the end of the 2018 after 47 years in operation and put the property up for sale.

“Our church had grown to the point of outgrowing our Vidalia campus,” said Danny Reeds wife, Calley Reed. “We were looking for a property and praying about where to go and decided to make an offer for Trinity. To make a long story short, God did so many miracles and we purchased that property.”

Cornerstone Church, a non-denominational evangelical ministry founded in 1981, is currently located at 166 Cornerstone Drive, Vidalia.

Calley Reed said the church is currently renovating they gym of the former school property located off of U.S. 61 for the church sanctuary that would hold approximately 600 people.

“Hopefully by summer, our church will be in the old Trinity building,” she said.

Calley said another arm of the church would be the “Living Hope Montessori” school that would be housed in two campuses — at the Vidalia church campus and in the elementary and preschool buildings at Trinity.

“Our present church building will be the Vidalia campus and then we will be able to use the elementary and preschool buildings at Trinity for a campus there.”

Calley said the Vidalia campus could open as early as next year and the Natchez campus in 2022.
