STARKVILLE— A memorial service for family and friends, honoring Madeline Scarborough Wilson, 73, who died peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020, at Oktibbeha County Hospital in Starkville, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Welch Funeral Home, 201 W. Lampkin St., in Starkville.

Madeline was a 1964 graduate of Natchez-Adams County High School, where she was homecoming queen and attended Mississippi State College for Women.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Irwin and Gena Scarborough of Natchez.

Survivors include her adoring husband of 54 years, Lawrence E. Wilson, who she met in high school and married in 1965; two sons, Michael of West Point and Mark of Denton, Texas; one granddaughter, Madison of Starkville who is a senior at Mississippi State University; and one brother, Irwin Jr. of Gulfport.

Madeline was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. All of her family, including her many friends, loved her laugh and kind and gentle spirit. She was an ardent supporter of charitable causes, especially those involving children and their health.

Madeline said a number of times during her life that she wanted her memorial to be casual and filled with friendship, love and laughter.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee and/or Batson Children’s Hospital in Jackson.
