NATCHEZ— Services for Elizabeth M. Hodges, 86, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2020, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, after a long battle with cancer that was not diagnosed until the final weeks of her life, will be 9:30 a.m. today at Morgantown Baptist Church.

Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hodges was born Oct. 7, 1933, in Pelahatchie, and reared in Rankin County, the daughter of Russell Allen Myers Sr. and Lillian Shedd Moulder.

At Pelahatchie High School, she was a standout on the girls’ basketball team, and was declared by her classmates as “Most Notable.” While still in high school, she also worked as the bookkeeper at Service Chevrolet in Pelahatchie, where she received awards for her outstanding record-keeping.

Ms. Hodges lived in Natchez for 46 years. She will be remembered in Natchez for her many years of service in the customer service departments at McRae’s and Woolco department stores, where he worked hard to make sure every customer was satisfied.

She will also be remembered for her many years of service as a poll worker in the precinct at Lovely Lane Methodist Church on Morgantown Road, where she worked until the age of 85.

Ms. Hodges was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Charles H. Hodges of Natchez; her parents and stepfather, M.S. Moulder of Lorena; two brothers, Russell Myes Jr. of Pelahatchie and Ray Myers of Sibley, Louisiana; and one sister, Patricia M. Rodgers of Haughton, Louisiana.

Survivors include one son, Charles S. Hodges of Natchez; one daughter, Diane Hodges of Alexandria, Virginia; two grandchildren, Kimberly and Kris Armradit; three beloved nieces, Charity and Lori Myers, Susan Martin and Sandra Mitchell; four nephews, Jeff, Alan and Rodney Myers and Mark Purvis; and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be Alan Myers, Casey Myers, Jeff Myers, Ethan Martin, Joshua Beach and Dustin Henderson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Curtis Clark, L.C. Smith and Jack Cupit.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be sent to Morgantown Baptist Church, 2164 Second St., Natchez, MS 39120.
