Natchez — Funeral services for Bernadine Sims-Johnson, 67, of Natchez, who died on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2020, at Natchez Merit Health will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter Baptist Church with Rev. Wilsonni Johnson officiating.

Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 5:30 p.m. today with a “Celebration of Life” wake service at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.

Bernadine was born Feb. 24, 1952, in Natchez, the daughter of Joe Sims. Sr. and Rosa Lee Harris Sims. She was a graduate of Sadie V. Thompson High School and Alcorn State University. Bernadine was a retired cosmetologist. She was a member of St. Peter Baptist Church and the Eastern Stars. She enjoyed playing cards and visiting the casinos.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Williard Earl Sims, Sr.

Bernadine leaves to cherish her memories, one son, Delbert “Pete” Sims; two daughters, Ewanda Johnson and Bernadette Johnson; two brothers, Joseph Sims, Jr. and wife Aradia and R.T. Sims; one sister, Delores Sims; grandchildren, Jaramy Johnson, Charles Buchannan III, Trenisha Buchannan, KyErica Bernard, Jasmine Buchannan,and Sema’J Hickombottom and other relatives and friends.
