Long Beach — Services for George Clark Eyrich Jr., 69, of Long Beach, who died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2020, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Long Beach Church of Christ, 200 N Cleveland Ave., Long Beach. Interment will be in Evergreen Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Clark Eyrich, Sr.; his mother, Isabelle Eyrich Simmons; and sister, Isabelle Eyrich Sebille.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Sue Wilson Eyrich; two daughters, Elissa Beth Eyrich and Erynne Eyrich Shatto and husband, Steve; two sisters, Gladys Eyrich Swain and Elizabeth Eyrich Massengill and husband, Cam; one granddaughter, Evelyn Hart Shatto; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
During his undergraduate education, he met Linda Sue Wilson on a blind date. They later married on June 6, 1971. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business from Mississippi State University and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Southern Mississippi – along with a master’s in business administration. He worked for many years in business, including finance, restaurant management, university teaching, and lending. He was a faithful member of the Long Beach Church of Christ where he served as a deacon for 21 years and then as an elder for 20 years. He was passionate, diligent, and self-sacrificing about his service to the Church. He was beloved for his good nature and for his culinary talents, which he enjoyed sharing with others through cooking for family, friends, and those in the community.
