NATCHEZ — Services for Mrs. Dortha Ree “Dot” Nelson, 77, of Natchez, who passed on Feb. 22, 2020, at University Medical Center in New Orleans, KA, will be held on Saturday, March 7, at 11 a.m. at the Rose Hill Baptist Church #1 with Rev. Columbus Felton officiating. Burial will follow at the Felton Family Cemetery.
Wake service will be held Friday, March 6, at Marshall Funeral Home Chapel in Natchez. Visitation will be Saturday, March 7, at the church from 10 a.m. until service time.
Mrs. Nelson was born Oct. 7, 1942 in Hamburg, MS to Jimmy James Washington Felton and Rosa Ree Carter-Felton. She was married to the late Double Day Nelson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Double Day Nelson; one daughter, Bertha Ree Felton; two sons, Derbie D. Nelson and Robert Nelson; one granddaughter, Romonia Nelson-Smith; four sisters, Levator Felton, Cordelia King, Lillie B. Smith and Bobbie Jean Pernell; three brothers, Lee Mack Felton, Amos Felton and Leonard Felton.
She is survived by five daughters, Mary Lee Dan and husband Micheal; Ginetta Anderson and husband Matthew, Kathy Hampton and husband Samuel, Glenda Faye Montgomery and husband Demontric and Lathasha S. Nelson; one son, Lee Arthur Felton; four stepchildren, Lucille Brenghettsy, Wallace Anderson, Donald Nelson and Lisa Nelson Devare; two sisters, Ruby Smith and Vera Allen and husband Claude; seven brothers, Jimmy Felton, Arthur Felton, Elmond Felton, Arvenious Felton, M.E. Felton and wife Bessie Ray, Earlvin Felton and wife Delores and Alvin Felton and wife Geneva; one daughter-in-law, Jada Reed Nelson; one god daughter, Christina Williams; one brother-in-law, Emanuel Jack Nelson; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
