NATCHEZ — Merit Health Natchez officials said Thursday afternoon that no confirmed COVID-19 cases have been reported at the facility after social media posts stated otherwise on Thursday.
“We currently have no confirmed cases at our facility,” said a statement issued from Merit Health Natchez by Kay H. Ketchings, marketing director for the hospital.
The statement was issued after a social media post earlier Thursday said, “I’m not one to post rumors but this comes from a trustworthy source .. It is going around that Natchez has its 1st case of suspected Coronavirus at the hospital here…. .”
The Mississippi Department of Health said it did not have any reports Thursday afternoon of any coronavirus cases in Adams County.
The only reported case of COVID-19 in the state of Mississippi as of Thursday afternoon was reported Wednesday evening in Forrest County, MDH officials said.
“The situation is a public health matter that is rapidly evolving,” said Merit Health Natchez’s statement. “The Mississippi Department of Health is tracking all cases and remains your best source of accurate data for our region.”
