Cathedral School has announced that it will be closed to students on Monday and Tuesday.
In an email to parents, Cathedral officials said the Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese of Jackson announced that Spring Break will be extended for two days, with plans for classes to resume on Wednesday, March 18.
Faculty and staff will meet on Monday and Tuesday to outline the school’s plans of action to potential impacts of the new coronavirus.
In addition to the closure, Cathedral is also placing restrictions on students, parents and employees who traveled internationally or went on a cruise during spring break or traveled to areas of the country with a significant number of diagnosed cases of COVID-19, including California, Colorado, Washington and New York. Students, parents and employees meeting the criteria should refrain from coming to the school for a 14-day waiting period.
The school said it will remain in close contact with the public schools, the Natchez Coronavirus Task Force and other organizations to make further decisions.
